The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe launches Educational Musical Outreach for NJ Schools

Colts Neck, NJ - The Music Man is pleased to introduce its Educational Musical Outreach Program.

As you may be aware The Music Man LLC, which owns and operates The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe in Lavallette, NJ, has taken their audience's advice and is taking its "show on the road."

"We've created cost effective programs that allow schools to take part in high quality presentations and instruction," states Robert Agliata owner and Educational Director of The Music Man. "The flexibility of our programs allow educators the ability to enhance the core curriculum by using our actor/teachers in the capacity of one-day seminars, weekly visits or an artist in residence approach."

Agliata, whose background is music and theatre education is a graduate of The College of New Jersey in Music Education. Then went on to receive a Masters Degree in Theatre-in-Education from Ohio State University. His teaching and working began with Princeton's McCarter Theatre's Outreach Department where he developed educational programs and wrote original music for an educational play called, "Alice"! As a professional actor, he has been seen throughout New Jersey in a multitude of productions.

A current assembly program that has had tremendous success is our Broadway Cabaret, which we have entitled "Personalities of Songs." This multimedia musical presentation for all ages uses the latest multimedia technology. "We have developed a stimulating DVD backdrop, while the accompaniment music plays in sync," mentions Agliata. "The actor/teacher sings American Musical songs from both stage and screen in front of this tremendous video silver screen. This one-man cabaret performance will educate and entertain. The audience will enjoy songs from musicals such as Oklahoma, The Wizard of Oz and Grease. "

Pre and Post lesson discussions and learning activities can accompany the program to expand the breath of the performance. Lessons can be developed to support essential components of your school's theatre and language arts standards of learning as well as developing cross-curriculum activities.
